1- PURPOSE AND SCOPE
This Cookie Disclosure Notice aims to set forth the procedures and principles regarding the general definitions of cookie data relating to visitors, the specification of cookie types, and the processing and management of cookie data on the website of GÜVEN ASFALT PETROL ÜRÜNLERİ ULUSLARARASI TAŞIMACILIK TİC. VE SAN. A.Ş. (hereinafter referred to as “Güven Asfalt”), taking into account the provisions set out in the Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data and the regulations included in the “GUIDE ON COOKIE PRACTICES” published by the Personal Data Protection Board.
This disclosure notice covers the processing of personal data through cookies, and cookies that are not used in the processing of personal data are excluded from its scope. It applies to all desktop and mobile websites and web applications operated within Güven Asfalt.
We may update this disclosure notice when necessary; therefore, please ensure that you access the most up-to-date version of the notice on the date you use our web and mobile services.
2- DEFINITION OF COOKIES
A cookie is a type of text file placed on the user’s device by website operators and transmitted as part of an HTTP(S) (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol) request. When a web page is visited, cookies allow certain information relating to users to be stored on their terminal devices. They are low-capacity rich-text formatted text files.
3- TYPES OF COOKIES
Cookies are categorized according to their duration, purpose of use, and the party placing them. The cookie types and explanations are as follows:
3.1. Cookies by Duration
Session Cookies
Also called temporary cookies, session cookies are used to ensure the continuity of a session. Session cookies are deleted when the user closes the internet browser.
Persistent Cookies
Persistent cookies do not disappear when the internet browser is closed; they are automatically deleted on a specific date or after a certain period. Each time the user visits a website, the data processed about the user is transmitted to the server through these cookies. For this reason, persistent cookies are sometimes referred to as tracking cookies. For example, advertisers may record information on a user’s web browsing habits for a long period of time. They may also be used to prevent users from having to re-enter their login details every time they access their accounts on websites.
3.2. Cookies by Purpose of Use
Strictly Necessary Cookies (Mandatory Cookies)
These cookies are necessary for the operation of the website. They are mandatory to fulfil an information society service requested by the user (such as logging in, filling in forms, remembering privacy preferences).
Cookies used for the purposes described under Criteria A and B in Article 5 of this disclosure notice may be given as examples of strictly necessary cookies. In general, they correspond to cookie types for which processing is carried out on the basis of legal grounds other than explicit consent. If strictly necessary cookies are blocked, some parts of the website will not function, and these cookies are not used for marketing purposes.
Functional Cookies
These cookies are used for personalization and remembering preferences in websites or applications (including applications on desktop, mobile, or IoT devices). They are used to provide functionalities other than those ensured by strictly necessary cookies. Where it is not evident that the data subject has explicitly requested the relevant information society service, explicit consent must be obtained.
Performance / Analytical Cookies
These cookies enable statistical measurement to analyze user behavior on websites. They are frequently used to improve the website, including measuring the effectiveness of advertisements on relevant individuals. Website owners use such cookies to estimate the number of unique visitors, identify the most important search engine keywords leading to a particular page, or track users’ navigation paths on the site.
Advertising / Marketing Cookies
Advertising and marketing cookies are used to track users’ online activities, identify their personal interests, and display advertisements tailored to those interests.
Although there are many types of online advertising, online behavioral advertising is widely preferred because it allows advertisements to be tailored to individuals’ tendencies and preferences, enabling more efficient use of time and financial resources for advertisers.
Online behavioral advertising practices consist of the following stages: tracking individuals’ activities on the internet, analyzing these activities to create profiles, matching the profiled individual with appropriate advertisements, and displaying those advertisements to the relevant person.
3.3. Cookies by Party
First-party cookies are placed directly by the website visited by the user, namely by the URL shown in the browser’s address bar (guvenasfalt.com.tr).
Third-party cookies are placed by a third party different from the website (or domain) visited by the user.
4- CONDITIONS FOR PROCESSING PERSONAL DATA THROUGH COOKIES
Güven Asfalt, based on the presence of explicit consent or the assessment made by the data controller specifically regarding the personal data processing activity carried out through cookies, also takes into account other data processing conditions listed in Articles 5 and/or 6 of the Law.
